URGENT MESSAGE

Due to the crisis generated by COVID-19, to the uncertainty associated with the duration of the quarantine, and to the restrictions on mobility that will occur in Spain in the coming months, ALdE has decided to postpone for one year the holding of the XXIII Applied Economics Meeting, which was to take place in Palma de Mallorca on June 4 and 5, 2020.

ALdE has adopted this decision, in agreement with the Local Committee and the Scientific Committee, with the logical regret, but with the conviction that it is the most responsible solution at the present time. We hope that this decision, taken almost two months in advance, will serve to minimize the economic damage that the contracting of travel and accommodation may entail to the participants, and we offer collaboration to advise them on procedures for claiming these expenses. ALdE will proceed to refund the registration fees to the Meeting of those who have already paid them.

From ALdE we appreciate the willingness expressed by the people invited as keynote speakers, the collaboration of the various entities that contributed to the Meeting, as well as the interest of all the people who had sent their research to this conference. We also appreciate their understanding of this postponement, and we hope to have all of them in the next edition, in a safer and healthier context.

The good news is that the Local Committee of the University of the Balearic Islands keeps intact its commitment to the organization of the XXIII Applied Economics Meeting, which will take place in Palma de Mallorca on June 3 and 4, 2021.

This historical building has been the venue of the Commerce School where the university degrees of Law and Business were taught in the past. Sa Riera is an ancient construction which requires a huge economical effort to maintain its visual appearance and charm. The Local Government has done a special economic effort to improve its infrastructures.
